About The Position

Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join a dynamic team and provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The 34-bed Intensive Care Unit cares for adults and patients over 15 years old, with diagnoses and patient needs including neurosurgery, respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock (including Impella and balloon pump), renal failure requiring CRRT, and general and cancer-specific surgeries, such as esophagectomy and internal chemotherapy administration. The unit is a primary tertiary center for the healthcare system and experiences volume flexes.

The role works collaboratively with attending and student providers. The team values personable, collaborative colleagues who are willing to assist others and bring an inquisitive, positive mindset. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1–2 in ICU, 1:4–5 in PCU, and 1:5–6 in Med-Surg. The position may float to all inpatient units except Maternity and NICU. Two shifts of unit-specific orientation are provided. The scrub color is navy blue.

Requirements

• Two years of recent ICU experience.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification.
• NIHSS certification.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong critical-thinking skills and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Titrate drips, including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics.
• Participate in Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) and code situations as necessary.
• Monitor and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Provide patient care in a collaborative environment alongside attending and student providers.
• Float to inpatient units as needed, excluding Maternity and NICU.
