About The Position

The ICTV Director of Technical Operations is a student employment position responsible for overseeing all technical operations of the station. This includes maintaining technical policies and workflows, coordinating studio space and equipment allocation, and managing the ICTV Checkout Center. The Director also provides technical guidance and training to producers and volunteers, serves as a liaison between various college departments and ICTV leadership, and identifies technology and equipment for station upgrades, including budget allocation requests. The role requires weekly meetings with the ICTV Executive Staff. Ithaca College's student employment program aims to provide meaningful experiential learning opportunities that develop transferable skills and foster personal and professional growth.

Requirements

  • At least one semester of experience volunteering within ICTV.
  • Include a cover letter explaining what you would bring to the position and what ideas you have for ICTV moving forward.

  • Successful completion of the I-9 and employment eligibility requirements.
  • Bring original, unexpired, authorized personal identification documents to complete the I-9 form.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all technical operations of the station.
  • Working with all Executive Staff members to maintain technical policies and workflows for Producers to follow and act as a resource for completion of all workflows.
  • Coordinating with the Director of Programming to organize studio space and equipment allocation regulations.
  • Overseeing the ICTV Checkout Center and training operators of the Center.
  • Acting as a resource to all ICTV producers and volunteers in providing technical guidance and training. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating workshops.
  • Serving as a liaison between ICTV Leadership, Manager of Facilities and Portable Equipment, Park Engineers, Administration, and Master Control Technicians.
  • Identifying technology and equipment that can upgrade the station and overall quality of programming, including serving as requester of all budget allocations.
  • Meeting weekly with the rest of the ICTV Executive Staff.
