About The Position

As an Integrated Control & Safety Systems (ICSS) / Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) Engineer, you will join WSP’s Rail & Transit team to deliver safe, resilient, and intelligent control system solutions for critical transportation infrastructure across Canada. Reporting to the Lead ICSS & SCADA Engineer, you will support complex, multidisciplinary projects and industry partners, taking ownership of control system design and ensuring designs meet applicable standards and specifications. You will also contribute to consistent processes and execution plans across multiple projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related science discipline from an accredited university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA or another Canadian province, or ability to obtain registration within one year of start date.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing industrial or railway‑related control systems.
  • Extensive experience with PLCs, RTUs, SCADA, and DCS system architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of digital and analogue instrumentation, including wiring and control module design implications.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as TCP/IP, OPC, Modbus, BACnet, DNP3, and IEC‑61850.
  • Exposure to OT / ICSS security architectures and cybersecurity considerations.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and technical documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a technical resource in the development of advanced concepts, techniques, and standards for control systems engineering.
  • Develop control and monitoring strategies for rail and transit subsystems, including traction power, building electrical and mechanical systems, and subway ventilation systems.
  • Prepare control system narratives, diagrams, and control points tables to support detailed design and delivery.
  • Develop control panel layout drawings, including control and power wiring schemes.
  • Manage and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for assigned projects.
  • Produce design reports, drawings, and technical specifications for ICSS and SCADA systems.
  • Perform technical reviews of design submissions, respond to RFIs, and provide independent peer reviews.
  • Support testing, integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities during project delivery.
