The City of Ames Parks and Recreation Department has an exciting opportunity for Ice Arena Shift Leaders. This role involves assisting and supervising Cashiers, performing opening and closing procedures, completing routine equipment checks, enforcing rules for facility safety, maintaining cleanliness, and utilizing the Point of Sale/Pass Management program. The position also includes completing nightly cash deposits, delegating duties to Cashiers, responding to emergencies, and operating facility-specific equipment. Secondary responsibilities may include ensuring proper staffing levels, completing paperwork, assisting with concessions, contacting vendors, and assisting the Recreation Manager with various tasks. This is a temporary position expected to work 20-40 hours per week from July 2026 to September 2026, with shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.
