About The Position

The IB/AP Coordinator is responsible for the effective leadership, coordination, and implementation of the IB Programmes and AP Program at Lynn-Rose. The coordinator ensures alignment with policies, upholds programme integrity, and works collaboratively with faculty, students, and parents to deliver a robust and engaging curriculum experience. As the central liaison between the school and the IB and AP, the IB/AP Coordinator ensures all administrative and pedagogical requirements are met while fostering a culture of inquiry, international-mindedness, and academic excellence.

Requirements

  • Significant teaching and leadership experience and qualifications with the IB and preferably the AP.
  • Demonstrable experience and skills working in a K-12 educational setting and across programmes or divisions.
  • Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification is highly recommended.
  • Experience as an IB Workshop Leader, Examiner or Visitor is highly desirable.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Willingness to undergo appropriate vetting procedures, including an online due diligence search, references and satisfactory Criminal Background Checks or equivalent covering the previous 10 years’ employment history.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an IB Workshop Leader, Examiner or Visitor is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the implementation and development of the IB Programmes & AP Program.
  • Lead regular curriculum reviews to ensure alignment with IB standards and practices.
  • Chair faculty meetings and facilitate collaborative planning across subjects.
  • Support the integration of Approaches to Learning (ATL), Learner Profile attributes, and international-mindedness.
  • Act as the main contact with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
  • Maintain the school’s authorization and re-evaluation status.
  • Ensure compliance with the IB Programme Standards and Practices, including timely updates of the school’s Programme Development Plan (PDP).
  • Register candidates and manage internal assessment, predicted grades, and exam entries on IBIS.
  • Communicate all IB deadlines and procedural requirements to staff and students.
  • Support subject teachers with curriculum planning, assessment design, and moderation processes.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date DP Assessment Calendar.
  • Oversee internal and external assessments, including mocks, orals, and the May AP and IB exams.
  • Ensure academic honesty is embedded and monitored throughout the programme.
  • Lead the process of all culminating projects across the IB programmes.
  • Oversee and support the TOK and Extended Essay Leaders and the CAS Coordinator.
  • Monitor and ensure timely student progress in the DP Core components.
  • Organize Core-specific training sessions and reflection activities.
  • Guide students through subject selection and programme requirements.
  • Monitor academic progress, identify students at risk, and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Coordinate with college/university guidance to align academic goals with future pathways.
  • Support students in developing ATL skills and independent learning strategies.
  • Communicate the philosophy and structure of the IB to the wider school community.
  • Plan and lead IB-related events: information sessions, student/parent evenings, and exhibitions.
  • Maintain transparency regarding programme expectations, deadlines, and assessment policies.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate IB/AP-recognized professional development for IB/AP staff.
  • Mentor new teachers and foster a strong culture of reflective practice.
  • Support teachers in aligning practices with IB/AP updates and pedagogical leadership.
  • Promote the core components as essential elements of the IB learner profile and ATL (Approaches to Learning).
  • Support school-wide initiatives connected to inquiry, international-mindedness, and academic integrity.
