About The Position

This role involves developing and maintaining applications on AS400 or I5 platforms. The programmer will work with users to understand their needs, design, program, implement, and test new software systems, and provide support for existing applications. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, problem resolution, documentation, and training users. Travel may be required.

Requirements

• 2 – 4-year degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
• 2 or more current years of experience in application development on AS400 or I5 platforms in RPG/ILE, CLP, and SQL/400 software language.
• Good organizational abilities and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communications.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines in an organized fashion.

Responsibilities

• Confers with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing applications as requested by users.
• Provide on-call support and problem resolution for computer applications on a weekly rotation.
• Troubleshoot and provide timely resolution to programming and/or user errors, which may involve programming changes and/or file restoration.
• Work with users to understand their processes and how information systems can help, integrating their needs into specifications for software modifications or development.
• Design, program, implement, and test new software systems and integrate them with existing systems.
• Ensure appropriate written documentation is created and maintained for system operations.
• Designs and prepares technical manuals, training guides, and reference manuals.
• Provide training to users when enhancements are made or new applications are written.
• Traveling may be required depending on project requirements.
