Responsible for developing discipline-specific design packages—mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil, or structural—for the installation of complex industrial projects. The role involves substantial interaction with clients and engineering discipline counterparts and oversight of the discipline design project team. The position is normally assigned to middle- to large-sized projects. The specialist reports design activity status to the design supervisor, identifies and documents scope deviations, supports estimates of change magnitude, and participates in project meetings. Responsibilities also include planning and scheduling drafting work, assigning and coordinating tasks, checking drawing packages, participating in 3D model reviews, and supervising, coaching, and teaching designers and drafters. The role requires work in industrial plants and construction sites, as well as extended desk and computer work. A valid driver’s license is required.
