The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and reliability of electrical, instrumentation, control, and analyzer. This role supports safe and efficient plant operations by ensuring electrical and control systems operate in accordance with company standards, applicable codes, and safety regulations. The I&E Technician maintains electrical distribution systems, motors, process instrumentation, analyzers and related control equipment used in industrial operations. This position serves as a shared resource working across two facilities.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely in industrial environments.
  • Eligible to obtain a TWIC card
  • Valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training, associate degree, or vocational certification in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Independently install, maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair instrumentation, electrical, analyzer, valves, and control system equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and perform corrective maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Maintain motors, motor control centers (MCCs), power distribution equipment, switches, transformers, relays, and associated electrical systems.
  • Support others with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), and associated communication networks.
  • Support contractors, vendors and obtain quotes on replacements
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, loop drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Install control wiring systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with company procedures, safety standards, environmental regulations, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, and maintenance personnel to optimize equipment reliability and performance.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 emergency response and troubleshooting support for instrumentation, electrical, analyzer, and control system failures.
