About The Position

As an Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer, in our Calgary or Edmonton office you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals. The compensation range for this role is $31.00 to $55.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. Requirements

  • A degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in hydrotechnical or water resources engineering.
  • Registered as a P.Eng. in a Canadian province.
  • Strong design skills in surface water and river systems, grounded in hydraulics and hydrology.
  • Experience with common modelling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or similar).
  • Clear, concise writing and sound technical judgment.
  • Practical field and construction experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
  • Familiarity with Canadian regulatory and approvals processes.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hydrotechnical design from concept through construction.
  • Complete hydrotechnical hazard assessments and provide risk-based recommendations
  • Prepare clear, well-structured technical reports, specifications, and design briefs.
  • Develop and apply hydraulic and hydrologic models to support design
  • Manage projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and delivery.
  • Review and approve designs and technical deliverables.
  • Work in the field (up to 30% of the time), including site reconnaissance, data collection, and construction support
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver practical solutions.
  • Engage with clients and regulators to support approvals and resolve technical issues.
  • Support proposals and business development.
  • Mentor junior staff through review, guidance, and example.
  • Keep safety central to planning, design, and field work.
