About The Position

The Baseline Program Coordinator will manage day-to-day delivery of the hydrogeological and geochemical baseline program at the Springer Tungsten Mine and Mill. The program supports the mine’s obligations under the Nevada Water Pollution Control Permit and supplies data for long-term models used to plan mining below the water table. The coordinator will work with the exploration team, drilling crews, a hydrogeology consultant, laboratories, and site management to coordinate monitoring equipment, drilling-based data collection, core and water samples, and supporting documentation. The role covers baseline program planning and tracking, field hydrogeology activities, geochemical characterization, database and quality management, and compliance support. It is site-based at an active exploration site and combines office and field work. The role reports to the Site Environmental Coordinator, who retains responsibility for site environmental compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, geochemistry, environmental science, or a closely related engineering or earth-science field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mining or mineral exploration, including at least 2 years in hydrogeological, geochemical, or environmental field data collection.
  • Working knowledge of Nevada environmental permitting for mining, including water pollution control permits and the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) process.
  • Experience with at least two of the following: drilling or core programs; geochemical sampling programs; installing or monitoring hydrogeological instrumentation; coordinating technical contractors or consultants.
  • Strong data-handling discipline, including chain of custody, QA/QC, and accurate record keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team across exploration, environmental, and consultant groups, and communicate clearly with drilling crews and management.
  • Current MSHA new-miner training or willingness to complete it before starting.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience supporting field data collection on active drilling programs.
  • Familiarity with Nevada mine waste rock and geochemical characterization requirements.
  • Experience with GIS and Leapfrog.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the hydrogeological and geochemical baseline collection program from planning through delivery, tracking progress against the drilling schedule and permit commitments.
  • Lead the weekly baseline program meeting and maintain current actions, owners, and deadlines.
  • Track program budget and purchasing, and coordinate procurement of monitoring equipment and related supplies for exploration boreholes.
  • Coordinate drilling-based hydrogeological data collection with the consultant and exploration team, including drilling reports and information requests.
  • Support on-site installation and testing of monitoring instrumentation.
  • Conduct field activities including water-level measurements, well development, and water sampling.
  • Coordinate core data collection for geochemical characterization, including sample selection and compositing.
  • Prepare and ship samples to laboratories with complete chain-of-custody documentation, and follow up on turnaround and results.
  • Maintain the baseline database, including drilling, installation, sampling, and laboratory records.
  • Apply QA/QC procedures to field and laboratory data, and promptly flag gaps, anomalies, or deviations to the consultant and environmental team.
  • Prepare data packages for the consultant and permit-related reporting.
  • Monitor exploration drilling activities for compliance with the Water Pollution Control Permit and related environmental requirements, and escalate issues to the Site Environmental Coordinator.
  • Help prepare documentation and data for regulatory submissions and inspections.
  • Act as the day-to-day link among drilling supervisors, the exploration team, the consultant, laboratories, and site management, translating technical requirements into practical instructions for field crews.
