About The Position

Emerson Power & Water Solutions is seeking a Hydro Production Technician in Amherst, WI. This role involves the assembly, inspection, and hydrostatic testing of mechanical components and assemblies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The technician will ensure products meet engineering specifications and customer expectations through attention to detail, quality, and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated applied knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and components.
  • Ability to select, use, maintain, and operates hand and power tools in accordance as necessary to complete assigned work in accordance with all applicable safety standards and requirements.
  • Mechanical/ electrical aptitude and Technical Literacy: Ability to read and follow technical diagrams to dismantle and accurately rebuild complex equipment. Read and understand and interpret drawings, schematics, and manuals/instructions.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand machining drawings.
  • Must be proficient in the use and maintenance of calipers, micrometers, gauges, and material hardness testers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Moderate physical activity, including walking, standing, or bending; and lifting or moving objects.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • General hydraulics/fluid power experience and knowledge.
  • Welding knowledge: experience supporting offsite weld inspections, conduct dimensional checks, visual inspections, Identify weld defects including cracks, porosity, undercutting, and incomplete fusion.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from mechanical drawings, engineering schematics, specifications, and manufacturing documentation to support assembly and testing activities.
  • Assemble mechanical components and product assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and established quality standards.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of components and assemblies to verify conformance to engineering requirements and customer specifications.
  • Read and interpret machining drawings, including geometric dimensions, tolerances, and standard manufacturing callouts.
  • Utilize precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and hardness testers to accurately inspect parts and document results.
  • Conduct functional, pressure, and hydrostatic testing of assemblies using hydraulic test equipment while adhering to safety and operational procedures.
  • Verify incoming materials meet quality requirements through inspection and review of applicable documentation.
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming materials, components, or assemblies in accordance with quality processes.
  • Record inspection and test data accurately and maintain required production, quality, and testing documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance product quality, testing processes, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve technical and quality-related issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Safely operate tools, testing equipment, and material handling devices necessary to perform assigned duties.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and root cause investigations related to assembly, testing, and product performance concerns.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support manufacturing and quality objectives.
