About The Position

Louisiana Machinery Company, a representative of Caterpillar® for four generations, has been providing high-quality equipment, service, and parts since 1933. In 2008, they joined the NAPA Auto Parts family and now operate four NAPA Auto Parts stores. They offer specialized tooling, hardware, filtration, and aftermarket parts for heavy-duty truck, heavy equipment, marine, and industrial applications. They also provide full hydraulic hose capabilities and complete repair services for all makes and models of heavy equipment, including preventative maintenance programs and hydraulic cylinder and starter/alternator rebuilds. They are seeking a safety-minded, skilled, and detail-oriented Hydraulic Technician to join their team in DeRidder, Louisiana. This role involves building and repairing hydraulic hose assemblies, as well as diagnosing, disassembling, repairing, rebuilding, and testing various hydraulic components like pumps, motors, cylinders, and valves. Field operations include removing and replacing hydraulic equipment at customer job sites.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or (GED) equivalent
  • State issued driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Strong mechanical Aptitude
  • Basic understanding of ownership of basic hand tools
  • Proficient in using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators and other measuring and diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong customer service skills, mechanical aptitude, professional demeanor and always "safety-first" mentality every hour of every day

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identification of correct replacement of hydraulic hose and fittings per manufacturer application.
  • Utilization of hydraulic hose assembly machinery to build hoses to factory specification utilizing computer programs and application catalog data.
  • Ability to operate a service truck and equipped machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for removal and installation of heavy equipment hydraulic components according to OE standards and technical service manual.
  • Disassemble faulty hydraulic components, inspect internal parts for wear or failure, and accurately determine the root cause of the issue.
  • Operate hydraulic test stands and diagnostic equipment to measure flow, pressure and efficiency both before and after repairs.
  • Rebuild, reseal, and repair hydraulic pumps (vane, gear, piston), motors, control valves, and cylinders using precision tools.
  • Set and adjust pressure relief valves, flow controls, and electronic/proportional controls to OEM specifications.
  • Ensure all completed components are free of leaks, perform reliably under maximum load, and meet quality standards.
  • Complete detailed teardown reports, list required reports, and log final test bench performance data for customer records and invoicing.
  • Maintain a clean, contamination-free workspace and strictly adhere to safety protocols, including proper PPE, lock-out/tag-out and high-pressure safety procedures.
