About The Position

The Hydraulic Lab Technician II works within a team environment to construct, fabricate, install, assemble, test, maintain, and remove equipment supporting test programs in the Hydraulic Test Lab. This role combines hands-on welding, fabrication, mechanical, and electrical skills with the ability to work safely and independently in a fast-paced industrial lab setting, while helping ensure equipment and test setups meet quality and performance standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education and some technical training
  • Minimum of four years of experience in general welding, fabrication, & mechanical skills.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in general electrical.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritize competing tasks
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for mechanical and electrical issues
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to lab and shop protocols
  • Basic computer skills for recording and documenting test data

Responsibilities

  • Work as a self-starter, taking initiative on tasks with minimal prompting
  • Receive instructions and execute and track multiple tasks without direct supervision
  • Adapt to shop standards and practices, remaining coachable and open to feedback
  • Read and fabricate from drawings provided by the Lab Manager and Test Engineers
  • Perform welding tasks using MIG, TIG, and stick methods
  • Operate industrial equipment such as lathes, iron workers, band saws, and drill presses
  • Use hand tools such as grinders, drills, and cutters, along with field fabrication methods
  • Work with 110/220V single-phase and 220/480V three-phase electrical systems, including running conduit
  • Assist with assembling, installing, aligning, modifying, adjusting, removing, and returning pumps in accordance with provided guidelines and drawings
  • Perform pipe fitting on pipe of various sizes up to 54” for testing
  • Apply working knowledge of low-voltage and instrumentation wiring (preferred)
  • Apply working knowledge of general hydraulic systems
  • Operate overhead cranes and mobile Hyster equipment to move parts within the lab
  • Assist with miscellaneous tasks carried out in the Hydraulic Lab
  • Maintain the lab in an organized and clean condition
