Hydraulic Crane Operator (90 tons and higher) Journey
About The Position
Operates hydraulic cranes rated at 90 tons and higher to lift, move, position, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies. The operator observes load hookups, assesses load safety, and controls crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions. The role also includes inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining the crane and hoisting mechanism; assisting with crane assembly and disassembly; and planning and coordinating crane movement and setup. The operator follows all safety procedures and typically has at least 48 months of industrial construction experience.

Responsibilities
- Observe load hookups and determine whether loads are safe.
- Operate crane controls to regulate the speed and direction of crane and hoist movements according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
- Clean and maintain the crane and hoisting mechanism.
- Inspect the crane for defective parts and notify the supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
- Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation, as needed.
- Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment.
- Safely operate the crane, hoist mechanism, tools, and materials.
- Assist in crane assembly and disassembly.
- Plan and coordinate crane movement and setup.
- Adhere to all safety procedures.
