About The Position

The Department of Administration's Division of State Agencies Support Services is seeking a Hybrid Warehouse/Driver to join the team! This position works within the State Surplus Property Program that promotes and facilitates the sustainable reuse of personal surplus property to state and local governments, qualifying non-profit entities and the public. In this role you will assist the supervisor in the state warehouse by assisting customers in the selection of surplus property. Assist in the screening, receiving, selling, and marketing of the program. Perform the Surplus Property pickup and vehicle fleet maintenance as well as operate trucks from the Surplus Property Distribution center to pick up property from federal installations and state entities. This position is onsite in Columbia, SC.

Requirements

• A high school diploma and two (2) years of box trucking experience.
• Must have a valid South Carolina Driver's license.
• Must be able to secure loads.
• Experience working in a warehouse.
• Knowledge of merchandising, and customer service concepts.
• Ability to help train new employees and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Meet the needs of customers wishing to purchase property from the state Surplus Property Office.
• Assist customers with purchases and the loading of purchases, promote the Surplus Property Office, and maintain a customer friendly atmosphere using your customer service skills.
• Keep warehouse clean and organized in a manner that is convenient for customers to make purchases.
• Operate a box truck from Surplus Property to federal installations and state agencies.
• Must perform pre and post trip inspection and immediately notify management of any safety or mechanical issues with equipment.
• Assist in loading and unloading truck promptly to ensure future schedules are met.
• Turn-in truck driver paperwork to receiving.
• Cover vehicle inspections and online sales property pickups.
• Work or perform duties outside of normal assigned job duties when needed to ensure Surplus Property's success.
