The HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of specialized HVAC, chiller, and environmental control systems that support mobile imaging units. This role helps ensure the temperature, humidity, and airflow conditions required for optimal imaging equipment performance and patient care. This position requires regular regional travel to mobile imaging locations primarily in Central and Southern Oregon and Northern California, to perform preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and system inspections.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • EPA Section 608 Certification required.
  • 2–4 years of HVAC service experience
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, generators, and trailer‑based HVAC configurations.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel regularly, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely work around electrical systems, refrigeration equipment, and mobile imaging environments.

Nice To Haves

  • technical or trade school certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, chillers, air handlers, and environmental control units specific to mobile imaging trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair system malfunctions, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, and control boards.
  • Monitor and maintain temperature and humidity levels required for imaging equipment performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct system performance tests and calibrations to ensure optimal operation.
  • Collaborate with imaging technologists and operations teams to ensure mobile units are climate‑ready before patient care begins.
  • Respond to urgent service calls to minimize downtime and maintain continuity of imaging services.
  • Inspect and maintain generator‑powered HVAC systems and ensure proper integration with mobile unit electrical systems.
  • Document all service activities, repairs, and parts usage.
  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, and manufacturer guidelines related to HVAC systems, refrigerants, and mobile imaging environments.
  • Maintain accurate refrigerant handling logs and adhere to EPA Section 608 requirements.
  • Ensure HVAC systems support the safe operation of MRI and CT equipment, including magnet‑safe practices and EMI considerations.
  • Participate in routine safety checks and quality assurance programs.
  • Travel to assigned mobile imaging locations across the region to perform scheduled and unscheduled service.
  • Adapt to varying site conditions, weather environments, and facility requirements.
  • Maintain a professional, customer‑focused presence while working directly with clinical teams, site partners, and vendors.
  • Work closely with imaging operations, fleet maintenance, and vendor partners to coordinate repairs and system upgrades.
  • Provide clear, timely communication regarding service status, repair needs, and equipment risks.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to fleet reliability and environmental system performance.
