About The Position

This position is for a Licensed HVAC Technician responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment and controls. The role involves troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, operating steam boilers and pressure vessels, and completing all required documentation. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining tools and equipment, understanding new and modified systems, and making recommendations for process improvements. Additionally, the role includes operating machine shop tools, performing brazing and soldering, maintaining and calibrating control systems, understanding Building Automation Systems (BAS), responding to alarms, performing on-call duties, supporting other trades, and performing record-keeping in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). The position requires treating all customers with respect, conducting oneself professionally, accommodating others in public areas, and ensuring the safety of passersby.

Requirements

  • High School graduate, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-year Military, Vocational or apprentice training in HVAC.
  • Journeyman HVAC license.
  • Experience in commercial HVAC.
  • Technical/educational skills.
  • Troubleshoot utilizing developed analytical skills.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and positive attitude.
  • Must have required basic hand tools.
  • Must understand Lock out Tag out Procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of CMMS and BAS.

Responsibilities

  • Perform major and routine maintenance, service, repair, and installations on all heating and ventilating equipment and controls.
  • Perform all scheduled preventative maintenance on all heating and ventilating equipment and controls systems.
  • Operate and perform all diagnostic system checks on all heating and ventilating equipment and controls.
  • Complete all required documentation, including work orders, faulty equipment reports, parts requirements, and manhour reports.
  • Properly use and be responsible for all tools and equipment.
  • Maintain awareness of heating and ventilating equipment and systems, and become familiar with new and modified systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including emergency situations.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to methods and procedures.
  • Observe and report unusual situations, reactions, effects, or conditions.
  • Operate various machine shop tools, braze or solder items for fabrication or repair.
  • Maintain and calibrate all related heating and ventilating controls and control systems.
  • Understand Building Automation Systems (BAS) and respond to all alarms, troubleshooting problems.
  • Perform on-call duties when required.
  • Support other trades when required.
  • Perform required paperwork/record-keeping, including data entry in CMMS, work order documentation, and activity reports.
