About The Position

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic with an S-1 License to join our team. This role is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of all heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment and controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of boiler systems, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and building automation systems. This position requires a commitment to safety, professionalism, and accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum S-1 License in the State of CT
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Proficient in chiller operation and repair
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems
  • Proficient steam boiler and pressure vessel operator
  • Principles of boiler design
  • General operation practices
  • Effects of water treatment
  • Inspection requirements
  • Emergency shutdown procedures
  • High School graduate, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 2-year Military, Vocational or apprentice training in HVAC
  • Journeyman HVAC license
  • Five years experience in commercial HVAC
  • Troubleshoot utilizing developed analytical skills
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and positive attitude
  • Must have required basic hand tools
  • Must understand Lock out Tag out Procedures
  • Basic knowledge of CMMS and BAS

Responsibilities

  • Perform major and routine maintenance, service, repair, and installations on all heating and ventilating equipment and controls.
  • Perform all scheduled preventative maintenance on all heating and ventilating equipment and controls systems.
  • Operate and perform diagnostic system checks on all heating and ventilating equipment and controls.
  • Complete all required documentation, including work orders, status reports, parts requirements, and manhour reports.
  • Properly use and be responsible for all tools and equipment.
  • Maintain awareness of the location and areas served by all heating and ventilating equipment and systems.
  • Become familiar with all new and modified systems.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to methods and procedures.
  • Observe and report unusual situations, reactions, effects, or conditions.
  • Operate machine shop tools, braze or solder items for fabrication or repair.
  • Maintain and calibrate all related heating and ventilating controls and control systems.
  • Understand Building Automation Systems.
  • Respond to all alarms and troubleshoot problems throughout systems.
  • Perform on-call duties when required.
  • Support other trades when required.
  • Perform required paperwork/record-keeping, including data entry in computerized maintenance management systems, work order documentation, and activity reports.
  • Treat all customers with respect and conduct yourself in a professional manner.
  • Accommodate customers, staff, and visitors when working in public areas.
  • Ensure safe passage of passersby and anyone in/around the work area.
