The HVAC Technician Specialist is primarily responsible for the installation, repair and modifications of the direct digital controls that communicate with building management systems. This position is also responsible for the safe, comfortable, and economical operation of the Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (H.V.A.C.), and plumbing systems throughout Cranbrook Educational Community (CEC) and for the installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
  • Five years’ experience in mechanical, heating, or related technical area.
  • Must possess a Universal Refrigeration Certification Card (EPA 608).
  • Must possess a Mechanical Contractor License; preference is with at least five classifications.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and modify direct digital controls that communicate with building management systems.
  • Maintain heating and cooling related equipment.
  • Perform safety checks on HVAC equipment.
  • Maintain water chemistry and associated controls to chillers, make up water, softeners, boilers, and deprecators tanks.
  • Maintain condenser and evaporator tubes on chillers.
  • Maintain valve controls and steam injectors.
  • Maintain air handlers, pumps and motors using variable frequency drives.
  • Operate, modify, and command points on CB Hawk, Niagara, Apogee, Honeywell and Metasys database control networks.
  • Monitor and operate the administrative level password protocols of building management systems.
  • Coordinate alarm points and notifications to electronic specialist for safe operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
