About The Position

Amentum is seeking an HVAC Technician IV to join our 2nd Shift team in Peoria, IL. The HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining the company’s buildings, facilities and equipment in an operating and functional condition. This will include but not limited to refrigeration repairs, troubleshooting, and air handler maintenance and repairs. Duties may include any of the following: electrical repairs or installations, plumbing, welding, machine servicing, and general mechanical maintenance (e.g. Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning or HVAC and sheet metal).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in area of specialization.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
  • This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

  • This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, reveals mastery of advanced duties of a specialized/technical nature.
  • Encounters diverse problems that require thorough analysis.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs heating and ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, compressors, and other mechanical equipment as necessary.
  • Utilizes strong mechanical and electrical skills in order to complete assignments.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
  • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
  • Coordinates work with outside contractors.
  • Assures code and building standards are met.
  • Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
