About The Position

Amentum is seeking an HVAC Technician III to maintain company buildings, facilities, and equipment in operating and functional condition. The role includes HVAC and sheet-metal work as well as other facility maintenance duties such as electrical repairs or installations, fleet repairs, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting and plastering, masonry, machine servicing, and general mechanical maintenance. Under general supervision, the technician performs varied and complex work using experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks. The position coordinates day-to-day work for a group of employees, assigns and reviews work, supports resolution of complex problems, coordinates with outside contractors, and helps ensure work meets applicable codes and building standards. The technician performs repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance on facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems, and completes work according to dispatched requests or scheduled work plans. The typical schedule is 40 hours over five days, from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; hours may vary with business demand. Weekend work may be scheduled to support 24/7 operations. The position may involve various shifts and alternative schedules, and overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required. Compensation is listed as $25.00–$30.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
At least 3 years of experience in the area of specialization.
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during a shift.
Ability to bend or stoop, squat, kneel, move in a 90-degree fashion, and stretch or reach repetitively during a shift.
Ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during a shift.
Ability to use a company/client-approved utility knife.
Ability to differentiate colors used for wire color-coding.
Ability to perform tasks involving repetitive wrist movement.
Ability to interact professionally and in a friendly manner with clients, including during stressful periods.
Ability to cope with job and workplace stressors while maintaining acceptable performance and contribution.
Willingness to work overtime when required and, if required, holidays and weekends.
Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test if offered the position.
May be required to hold a valid driver's license.
Must be able to obtain a security access badge at the client's location.
Must wear steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other personal protective equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

Review repair and maintenance service requests, determine the nature of problems, and recommend appropriate solutions.
Coordinate the day-to-day operations of a group of employees; assign, monitor, and review work for progress and accuracy.
Serve as a resource to others resolving complex problems and issues.
Coordinate work with outside contractors and work with or oversee subcontractors as directed.
Help ensure that applicable codes and building standards are met.
Perform repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance on buildings, facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facility systems, including HVAC and sheet-metal systems.
Perform work based on dispatched service requests or daily and weekly work schedules.
Review work and document specific needs, including materials, supplies, and instructions.
Assist with moving furniture, materials, and equipment as required.
Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Perform other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
