About The Position

Denver International Airport (DEN) is seeking an HVAC Supervisor to join our Facility Management Team! This position provides frontline leadership for a team of skilled trades professionals responsible for maintaining critical HVAC and building systems that support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of airport facilities. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who promotes accountability, develops employees, and drives operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Four (4) years of experience in journey-level skilled trades or in facility maintenance operations.
  • A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
  • Requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
  • Positions supervising HVAC Technicians require possession of Heating and Ventilating Journeyman, Refrigeration Journeyman or Stationary Engineer.
  • Requires possession of a Class "A" Supervisor Certificate in one of the HVAC trade specialties prior to completion of the probationary period to obtain permits for the agency or department.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
  • FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN).
  • Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment.
  • By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
  • Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
  • Applicants for employment with the City and County of Denver must have valid work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) or more years of experience supervising or serving as a lead for HVAC personnel.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing commercial or industrial HVAC, refrigeration, or related building systems.
  • Proficiency utilizing maintenance management software, preferably Maximo, and Microsoft Office applications to manage work activities, documentation, reporting, and operational records.
  • Advanced technical expertise demonstrated through HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical systems certifications and progressive responsibility within the skilled trades.
  • Certified Facility Management Professional (CFMP) or equivalent industry-recognized certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of HVAC Technicians and other assigned maintenance staff, establishing clear expectations and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and teamwork.
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and repair activities to ensure timely completion of work and continuous operational support.
  • Review, develop, and modify work plans, methods, and procedures; establish work priorities and staff schedules to ensure adequate operational coverage.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and related building systems.
  • Monitor work order performance, maintenance activities, and resource utilization to ensure service levels, quality standards, and operational objectives are achieved.
  • Resolve operational issues, mediate conflicts, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support efficient facility operations and customer service.
  • Develop employee performance plans, provide coaching and feedback, conduct evaluations, and identify training and professional development opportunities.
  • Implement safety standards, ensure compliance with applicable regulations and policies, and promote safe work practices throughout daily operations.
  • Maintain maintenance records, equipment documentation, and related reports while supporting continuous improvement efforts and long-term asset reliability.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
