About The Position

This position assists the Air Conditioning Foreman and mechanics with assigned duties and may provide support to other Facilities Services areas as requested. The role helps evaluate the needs of campus heating and cooling systems and supports the maintenance of critical systems. The position is onsite at the University of Tennessee Knoxville campus.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
EPA refrigerant handling certificate.
Three years of experience, or trade school and experience; experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Ability to understand standard equipment operating and handling safety protocols.
Mechanical knowledge and skills to service and repair HVAC systems and related equipment.
Ability to maintain a good leave record.
Ability to follow instructions and keep records.
Legally authorized to work in the United States full time without needing now or in the future sponsorship for employment-based visa status.

Nice To Haves

Vocational or technical training.
One year of vocational school or one year in a mechanical trade.
Technical skills acquired in installing, servicing, or repairing HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

Assist the Foreman and mechanics with monitoring, repairing, and installing campus air conditioning and heating systems.
Monitor HVAC systems and correct deficiencies as directed.
Understand the type and purpose of systems used to maintain campus buildings and areas.
Report repairs, deficiencies, needed parts or materials, and unsafe practices or conditions to supervisors.
Report and correct unsafe practices or conditions, escalating them to supervision.
