(BCM), an industry leading HVAC contractor headquartered in Poway California, has an opening for a Sheetmetal Laborer. The Sheetmetal Laborer supports HVAC installation and fabrication operations by assisting the Sheetmetal Journeyman and Sheetmetal Management with performing the removal, installation and start – up of HVAC equipment in multi-family and commercial projects. This role requires physical stamina, attention to safety, and the ability to follow instructions in construction and commercial jobsites.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of commercial construction practices preferred
  • Knowledge of ductwork takeoff experience ideal
  • Physical stamina and attention to detail throughout workday
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and mechanical aptitude skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal ductwork and HVAC system components.
  • Install ductwork systems and related HVAC equipment in commercial, multi-family, and industrial facilities.
  • Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, combustion equipment, and industrial air compressors.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize sheet metal materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
  • Measure, cut, bend, and prepare sheet metal materials using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment under the direction of experienced sheet metal workers.
  • Seal, insulate, secure, and fasten ductwork in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and applicable building codes.
  • Assist with the layout, staging, and positioning of materials to ensure efficient installation and workflow.
  • Perform demolition, removal, and replacement of existing ductwork and HVAC components as required.
  • Operate equipment and tools safely while following all company policies and job site procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas to promote a productive and hazard-free environment.
  • Conduct basic maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of tools, equipment, and work vehicles.
  • Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety requirements at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, lead sheet metal workers, and other trades to support project completion.
  • Assist with material inventory, storage, and job site housekeeping.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or lead sheet metal personnel.
