About The Position

Are you ready to apply your HVAC and refrigeration skills in a fast-paced setting where reliable performance is essential? As an HVAC Refrigeration Technician for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, you will maintain, repair, and improve systems that support key operations. This position offers the chance to work with advanced controls, multiple fuel sources, and a wide range of specialized equipment. Your work will directly support mission readiness by keeping vital systems functioning safely and efficiently. This role focuses on maintaining, adjusting, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems that support buildings throughout Fort Indiantown Gap.

Requirements

• Successful completion of the HVAC and Building Automation Technician trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Three years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, units, and equipment including one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls.
• Possession of an active motor vehicle license.
• Must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.
• Must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

• Willingness and ability to work in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania
• Possession of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification
• Possession of an Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints or wiring diagrams and schematics
• Experience making adjustments and repairs to heating systems (steam, hot water, and gas), as well as refrigeration and freezer units (reach-in and walk-in)
• Experience installing refrigeration or HVAC systems, units, equipment, and peripheral devices
• Experience performing preventative maintenance on all related equipment
• Experience responding to emergencies by going onsite and troubleshooting problems
• Experience making online or in-person adjustments as needed to maintain comfortable conditions
• Experience conducting building inspections to ensure adequate heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, and air circulation in buildings

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance on HVAC systems, including testing for leaks and servicing gas-fired units
• Clean, test, adjust, and calibrate pneumatic and electronic controls, sensors, and actuators
• Evaluate system performance and identify issues affecting efficient operation
• Calibrate air dampers, balancing valves, and modulating controls to maintain proper airflow and water flow
• Troubleshoot electrical controls, determine electrical loads, and install circuits following code requirements
• Read blueprints and install wiring for heating and cooling systems, pumps, and motors
