About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring the plant refrigeration and HVAC equipment run safely and efficiently. The Refrigeration Specialist will support the entire facility by, repairing, troubleshooting and performing preventive maintenance on the equipment. Collaborate within a team environment under the direction of a maintenance supervisor while interacting with all hourly and salaried maintenance and production personnel. Operate, maintain, and repair plant refrigeration, HVAC, and dehumidification systems, including electronic and pneumatic control systems. Inspect refrigeration and HVAC equipment routinely to adjust and maintain proper operating temperatures and humidity levels throughout the plant. Execute scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance on all processing systems, packaging refrigeration, and HVAC equipment. Troubleshoot and repair all plant and packaging refrigeration and HVAC issues quickly and accurately. Review system performance regularly to identify problems, address concerns, and recommend or implement technological improvements. Partner with maintenance and engineering teams to develop and implement new ideas that drive improved productivity. Manage spare parts stock to ensure inventory levels are adequate to fully support all equipment. Participate actively in a rigorous self-development training program designed to continuously increase technical proficiencies.

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma, industrial maintenance experience and/or trade school.
• Mandatory EPA certification required: Type I & II.
• Must have performed work as an ‘A’ refrigeration mechanic or have comparable experience and/or demonstrated abilities.
• Must successfully pass an exam that encompasses all technical aspects of the refrigeration specialist position as defined by the multi-skill commission.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC maintenance principles and practices and have the interpersonal and technical skills necessary to repair mechanical, electrical and instrumentation problems in a positive and professional manner.
• Must be able to react to refrigeration breakdowns and equipment problems in a proficient and positive manner.
• Must assist in improving overall efficiencies through effective mechanical, electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting and repair.
• The ability to communicate technical and non-technical information clearly
• Proficient in basic math, chart and technical drawing reading
• Excellent problem-solving, prioritizing and follow-up skills required.
• Basic computer skills including Rockwell RS View software
• Ability to safely operate motorized vehicles and some industrial equipment (e.g. fork truck, lifts, etc.)
• Knowledge of safety programs and procedures
• Available and willing to be contacted by phone in the event of an emergency and be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, late shifts and overtime
• Regularly required to wear company authorized safety shoes
• Regularly required to use company authorized hearing protection.
• Frequently required to wear company-authorized safety glasses
• Frequently required to wear gloves.
• Occasionally required to use a respirator.
• Hairnets and beard nets are required.

Nice To Haves

• Industrial Mechanical as well as Electrical – Electronic Troubleshooting is a plus

Responsibilities

• Comply with all government regulations pertaining to Occupational Health and Safety, etc.
• Attend start of shift QCD meetings and discuss suggestion and safety issues when appropriate.
• Comply with all company rules, policies, procedures, and programs.
• Assist in supporting the company's preventative maintenance program.
• Maintain company standards for housekeeping in everyday work routine.
• Must have completed or must complete Battery Changing, Stacker and Stand Up Truck Training.
• Plant GMP/PPE Compliance.
• Must be able to communicate with Warehouse Service Operators to order Raw Materials to complete frame-ups.
• Must be able to communicate needed information to peers, support personnel and Supervisors to assure successful operation.
• Accountable for the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) standards as outlined in the plant’s QRMP accountability document, including the implementation, improvement.
