About The Position

The Department of Human Services is seeking an HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic to support South Mountain Restoration Center. This position offers steady, hands-on work that keeps vital equipment functioning at its best. You will help maintain a safe and reliable facility for everyone who depends on it. This is a great opportunity to use your trade skills in a purposeful setting. This position supports the heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems that serve the South Mountain Restoration Center. The work ensures that critical equipment stays in safe and dependable condition.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, units, and equipment; or Completion of a three-year Vo-Tech training program in refrigeration, HVAC, or building automation and six months experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, related digitally controlled equipment, or BA systems; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration equipment.
  • Must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.
  • Must possess an active motor vehicle license.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect temperatures and condition of refrigerators, freezers, coolers, and walk-in boxes
  • Maintain ice machines, refrigerators, coolers, air conditioners, walk-in boxes, and all circulating pumps related to refrigeration equipment
  • Install new HVAC, refrigeration, and related equipment when needed
  • Adjust and repair steam, hot water, and gas heating systems throughout the facility
  • Operate, recover, and recycle refrigerants in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and EPA rules
  • Perform routine maintenance, lubricate components, and maintain records and part inventories
