HVAC/R Service Commercial Technician
About The Position
Mako Industries is seeking an HVAC/R Service Technician to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems for commercial clients. The role involves refrigeration service and repair, equipment and component installation or fabrication, electrical connections, and maintaining job materials and inventory. Work must be completed safely, promptly, neatly, and professionally, with effective communication and courteous conduct toward customers and coworkers. The position is based in Hutto, Texas, and includes after-hours work and an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of commercial HVAC/refrigeration experience, or related military experience.
- EPA certification.
- Willingness to work after hours and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong electrical and mechanical skills.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to following customer work rules.
- Professional personal appearance and computer skills.
- Dedication to safe work, hard work, punctuality, and organization.
- Ability to safely lift 50 or more pounds occasionally and climb extension ladders frequently.
- Agreement to post-offer, pre-hire drug screening, background check, and motor vehicle record search, where permitted by law.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with centrifugal or air-cooled chillers and water-source heat pumps.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Service commercial clients and work on refrigeration equipment, including walk-in and reach-in coolers and freezers, ice machines, and over/under-counter units.
- Change filters and replace or service compressors and belts; perform coil cleanings.
- Install, fabricate, and/or connect compressors, condensers, evaporators, and motors.
- Work with expansion and discharge valves, temperature and humidity controls, fans, control panels and switches, filters, gauges, ducts, piping, tubing, environmental controls, and related components.
- Complete power connections.
- Complete work safely, in a timely manner, neatly, and professionally.
- Maintain and be accountable for inventories, requisitions, materials, and supplies needed for each job.
- Communicate effectively with customers, management, and dispatchers, and treat customers and fellow employees professionally, courteously, and respectfully.
- Follow customer work rules and work safely, diligently, punctually, and in an organized manner.
