About The Position

EMI Service is hiring HVAC Preventative Maintenance Helpers to support mission-critical infrastructure at Camp Lejeune! Performing preventive maintenance of various types of commercial HVAC equipment to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly is the primary responsibility of the Preventive Maintenance Helper. Types of equipment include air handlers and VAV systems. You may also assist workers and journeyman by performing general duties of lesser skill, such as keeping them supplied with materials and tools; holding materials and tools; and cleaning working area, machines, or equipment. The ideal EMI HVAC Helper performs any task as instructed while following all health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Some knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in heating and cooling equipment and machinery
  • Works effectively in a team.
  • Follows verbal instructions and adheres to policies and procedures.
  • Adaptable and flexible in work situations.
  • Prioritizes tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner.
  • PRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of HVAC equipment. including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training in a variety of building and/or utility trades
  • Valid driver’s license compliant with REAL ID Act or are you willing and able to obtain one
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Regular, dependable attendance
  • U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations

Nice To Haves

  • HIGHLY prefer someone with basic knowledge of HVAC refrigeration and/or systems
  • CFC License or ability to obtain CFC License (minimum Type 2) within 90 days of employment

Responsibilities

  • Inspect motors, pulleys and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
  • Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts.
  • Repair or replace parts and reassemble equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
