About The Position

The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various systems including air conditioning, refrigeration, hot water heating, boilers, steam systems, and all heating systems throughout the hospital and ancillary facilities. This role also involves general maintenance duties, electronic controls of HVAC equipment, and maintenance/repairs of electrical motors, pumps, and air systems in critical areas. The position requires monitoring air systems dampers and fire control systems related to HVAC, repairing and maintaining kitchen and cafeteria equipment, and participating in construction activities. Responsibilities include the installation of all HVAC equipment in renovation areas, including ductwork and controls, performing preventative maintenance on all HVAC equipment while maintaining Joint Commission requirements, and correcting equipment for compliance. The role involves installing valves, control panels, fans, gauges, and switches, fabricating and installing ductwork and sheet metal items, connecting pipe and refrigeration components, and testing/adjusting gauges and controls for efficient operations. Cross-training to other trades such as Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpentry is also expected.

Requirements

  • No educational requirement.
  • Two years of technical training or hospital experience required.
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs air conditioning and refrigeration, hot water heating systems, boilers and steam systems, and all heating systems throughout the hospital and ancillary facilities.
  • Performs general maintenance duties as assigned for the hospital and ancillary facilities.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs of electrical motors, pumps, and air systems in all critical areas.
  • Monitors air systems dampers and fire control systems related to HVAC.
  • Repairs and maintains kitchen and cafeteria equipment.
  • Participates in construction activities.
  • Responsible for the installation of all HVAC equipment in renovation areas to include duct work and controls.
  • Performs PM on all HVAC equipment while maintaining Joint Commission requirements by correcting equipment for compliance and completing Plan for Improvements (PFI).
  • Installs valves, control panels, fans, gauges, and switches.
  • Fabricates, installs duct work, and sheet metal items.
  • Connects pipe and refrigerate components.
  • Tests and adjusts gauges and controls for more efficient operations.
  • Cross trains to other trades, including Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpentry.
