About The Position

The HVAC Mechanic II performs skilled work operating, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration, cooling, ventilating, and heating equipment within an assigned area. The position acts as a lead worker and trains and supervises entry-level Mechanics. It interprets plans and blueprints and drives between sites. This is a campus-only search, and applicants must be current University of Alabama employees to be considered.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four years of HVAC experience.
• EPA Section 608 HVAC Universal Certification.
• Valid U.S. driver's license; must be at least 19 years old at hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report in compliance with University policies. Applicants under 21 will have some driving restrictions.
• Ability to lift, handle, and maneuver job-related tools, materials, and supplies.
• Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot blueprints, drawings, manuals, maps, schematics, and plans.
• Ability to do material takeoffs.
• Good people skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Final candidates must successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
• Final candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation, which includes information obtained from social media and other internet sources.
• Must be a current University of Alabama employee to be considered.

Responsibilities
