About The Position

We are looking for a skilled HVAC Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker to join our team. In this role, you will fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal ductwork and related components for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in new construction commercial, and industrial settings. As a journeyman, you will work independently or as part of a crew with a strong focus on precision, quality craftsmanship, and safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC sheet metal fabrication and installation.
  • Strong proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience with various materials including galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and black iron duct work
  • Knowledge of SMACNA standards, local mechanical codes, and energy efficiency requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs, work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with both shop fabrication and field installation.
  • Familiarity with VRF systems, energy recovery ventilators (ERV), and commercial kitchen exhaust systems.
  • Welding (MIG/TIG) and brazing certifications.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification. 30 is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and install HVAC ductwork, fittings, plenums, diffusers, grilles, and other sheet metal components according to blueprints, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, shop drawings, and isometric sketches to determine layout and dimensions.
  • Measure, cut, bend, and form sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, shears.
  • Assemble and seal duct systems using appropriate fasteners, welding, brazing, or adhesives to ensure proper airflow and energy efficiency.
  • Install hangers, supports, and reinforcements for ductwork systems.
  • Collaborate with HVAC technicians, foremen, and other trades to coordinate installation sequences and avoid conflicts.
  • Perform modifications and repairs to existing duct systems as needed.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, code compliance, and proper airflow performance.
  • Operate and maintain shop equipment and tools in good working conditions.
  • Load and unload materials; assist with material inventory and ordering.
  • Mentor apprentices and helpers in sheet metal fabrication and HVAC installation techniques.
  • Complete daily time sheets, production reports, and required documentation.
