About The Position

Perform sheet metal job assignments according to MTech Mechanical safety standards and guidelines, and within budgetary constraints. This position is a field-based role that requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, and may involve working at heights. The job involves a wide range of physical activities and the use of various tools and equipment to install HVAC and piping systems.

Requirements

  • 4-year apprenticeship certificate or 4 years of field experience
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of pipefitting, construction practice, and safety procedures
  • Working knowledge of all relevant national and local codes and company and industry standards
  • Must possess and maintain licenses that are required in the jurisdictions that you are working
  • Reliable transportation to and from work required

Responsibilities

  • Meet all requirements of a 4-year Apprentice.
  • Possess knowledge of all tools, equipment, and skills necessary for the complete installation of projects common to the HVAC/piping industry.
  • Direct the activities of field crew member(s) in accordance with job schedules and priorities as coordinated with project manager/customer/general contractor and field foreman as applicable.
  • Submit daily job progress reports to supervisors as required.
  • Order stock or fabricated materials as far in advance as possible to ensure completion of assigned tasks.
  • Maintain physical jobsite organization and housekeeping to ensure a safe professional work area.
  • Ensure safe operation and maintenance of company equipment and monitor the use and timely return of rented equipment.
  • Accurately account for labor hours to the accounting department, material sheets, and change orders.
  • Provide instruction and on-the-job training to apprentices/crew members, with an emphasis on safety.
  • Obtain and maintain necessary licensing/certification for performing work in areas where such is required.
  • Maintain knowledge of local/national codes and industry standards, and ensure that all necessary inspections are made through all phases of work.
  • Support the total quality effort and identify and respond to the needs of internal and external customers 100% of the time.
  • Work within the guidelines of the safety and employee policy.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned within the Piping Department.

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
