About The Position

Kemco Facilities Services is seeking a skilled and versatile General Field Service Technician to service the Starkville market and surrounding areas. This is a multi-trade position ideal for an experienced technician who is comfortable handling a variety of commercial service calls. The successful candidate will have experience in plumbing, electrical, general construction, and commercial handyman repairs. Experience with laminate countertop installation and repair is a plus. Our technicians work independently in the field, troubleshoot problems, communicate directly with customers, and complete repairs safely and professionally.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in commercial maintenance, plumbing, electrical, general construction, facility services, or related trades.
  • Candidates should be comfortable completing service work across multiple trades rather than specializing in only one area.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability and working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general construction.
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy.
  • Must successfully complete a satisfactory background screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or vocational training in a skilled trade is preferred.
  • Experience installing or repairing laminate countertops is preferred but not required.
  • Relevant trade certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, carpentry, general construction, and other facility components.
  • Complete a variety of commercial handyman and facility repair assignments.
  • Identify the cause of equipment, plumbing, electrical, and structural issues and develop effective repair solutions.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections to help prevent equipment and facility failures.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding service needs, repairs, recommendations, and job status.
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable industry standards while performing all work.
  • Accurately document work performed, materials used, and job completion information and submit service reports promptly.
  • Maintain company-issued tools, equipment, vehicle inventory, and commonly used repair materials.
  • Ensure repairs are completed correctly, professionally, and with minimal disruption to the customer's operations.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge across multiple trades and stay current with industry best practices.
