About The Position

This role involves performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, renovation, and new construction tasks across various County facilities. The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and structural systems, as well as performing preventive maintenance. The position also includes skilled trades work in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, and welding. Additionally, the role supports utility and infrastructure, operates construction equipment, and handles administrative duties such as data entry, reporting, and estimating. The ideal candidate will possess strong HVAC or Electrical experience combined with a broad maintenance and construction background.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Mechanical Maintenance, Painting, Pipe Installation & Repair, Masonry, Concrete Work.
  • Journeyman-level experience in at least one skilled trade.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to relocate to different County facilities as operational needs require.

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC Certification and troubleshooting experience.
  • Commercial or industrial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Experience operating construction equipment.
  • Leadership or crew supervision experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • CDL may be required depending on assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, renovations, and new construction work on facilities and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and structural systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on facilities and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations.
  • Perform electrical repairs, lighting, switches, receptacles, motors, and conduit installation.
  • Perform HVAC troubleshooting, repairs, component replacement, and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform plumbing repairs, fixture installation, pipe replacement, and maintenance.
  • Perform carpentry work including framing, doors, windows, ceilings, and renovations.
  • Perform masonry, concrete, sidewalks, driveways, and drainage structure repairs.
  • Perform painting, surface preparation, and finishing work.
  • Perform welding and small engine repairs as required.
  • Support water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Maintain water mains, lift stations, and utility infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and structural utility systems.
  • Operate construction and maintenance equipment including tractors, front loaders, mini excavators, skid steers, dump trucks, pickup trucks, trailers.
  • Load and unload equipment and construction materials safely.
  • Enter work information into County asset management systems.
  • Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and email for reporting and communication.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, maps, and technical drawings.
  • Prepare material estimates and job layouts.
