About The Position

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced HVAC mechanic to join their growing North America HVAC business. This role is part of the IMPACT Fly Team and requires significant travel. You will work on advanced commercial HVAC systems, including troubleshooting, repairs, and installations of equipment such as chillers, compressors, pumps, rooftop units, and building automation systems. You will use modern tools and serve as a trusted expert to customers, diagnosing issues, explaining solutions, and ensuring system efficiency. Collaboration with a team of professionals, knowledge sharing, and supporting apprentices are also key aspects of the role. Requirements

  • Several years of experience working on commercial or industrial HVAC systems.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting a range of equipment, including chillers, boilers, pumps, compressors, and related systems.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical systems, including alignment and vibration diagnostics.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to teammates and customers.
  • Willingness to keep learning and sharing knowledge.
  • Hold a Universal EPA refrigerant license.
  • Open to travel as needed (50-75% of the time).
  • Participation in the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices is required.
  • Must be able to join the Union Local within 365 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install advanced commercial HVAC systems.
  • Work with a wide range of equipment including chillers, compressors, pumps, rooftop units, and building automation systems.
  • Utilize modern tools such as laser alignment and vibration analysis.
  • Diagnose issues, explain solutions to customers, and ensure systems run efficiently and reliably.
  • Collaborate with a team of professionals, share knowledge, and support apprentices.
  • Travel 50-75% of the time as part of the IMPACT Fly Team.
