About The Position

Works under the supervision of a Trades/Maintenance Coordinator and with other Facilities Technicians to maintain and improve the Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning systems in the Facilities Healthcare Zone buildings, focused on Vista Pavilion. This includes the routine and preventative maintenance, repair, and upgrade of HVAC systems and control systems, and the associated administrative duties such as ordering parts, setting priorities for service requests, training other employees, and attending meetings related to changes and impacts to the HVAC system. As this is a critical position in the department, presence during all hospital emergencies is expected and required.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited school (two-year program) in heating and air-conditioning; and Two years of full-time experience installing, altering, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining HVAC control systems and performing corrective and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.
Two additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted for the two years of education.
Driver’s license valid in the state of Oregon.

Nice To Haves

Experience/knowledge working with Siemens and/or Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems.
General knowledge of standard practices, tools, hazards, and safety precautions of mechanical trades and HVAC controls trade.
General knowledge of State and local building code requirements, pneumatic electrical/electronic controls, air balancing, flow measurement devices, and HVAC application software.
Skill in the use of tools, materials and equipment used in the HVAC systems and HVAC control systems trades, ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, logic diagrams, schematics, specifications, codes, handbooks, and written operational sequences; skill in locating defects, adjusting, installing, and maintaining HVAC control systems and equipment, the ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions and the ability to fabricate parts.
CFC Certification, LME, Low Voltage License, EPA Certification.

Responsibilities

Installation, Repair, and Maintenance of Control Systems: Responds to HVAC systems complaints, performs troubleshooting of systems, calibrates all environment temperature, pressure, and humidity controls. Checks, adjusts and recalibrates environmental controls as part of the preventative maintenance program.
Installation, Repair, and Maintenance of HVAC Systems: Installs and modifies HVAC systems. Performs corrective and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems. Cleans, oils, and greases equipment such as pumps, motors, air compressors, and fans. Checks and replaces V belts and filters. Adjusts dampers, linkages and operators. Rebuilds and repairs valves.
HVAC System and Control Systems Renovation: Renovates and upgrades HVAC systems and control systems to accommodate new technology and/or energy conservation. Plans and coordinates activities during system shutdown.
Administrative Duties: Prepares job estimates. Keeps accurate record of tests, inspections, repairs and equipment replacement. Orders new HVAC parts, supplies, and equipment and maintains parts inventory. Sets priorities for service requests, trains other employees on technical info required to perform maintenance on HVAC systems and control systems, attending meetings related to changes and impacts to the HVAC system.
Customer Service: Assumes role as primary customer service representative for all Facilities & Logistics operations and services on assigned Work Orders, responding to both internal and external customers in a timely, effective, and professional manner, developing positive working relationships.
