About The Position

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking an HVAC/Boiler Operator for their ISS2 contract supporting an Air Force customer at Eareckson Air Station in Shemya, AK. This is a rotational position with a schedule of 3 months on-site followed by 1 month off (unpaid). While on-site, housing is provided in dormitory facilities, and all meals are served in the cafeteria. Transportation to the station from Anchorage, AK, is provided by government-sponsored aircraft.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years’ verifiable experience as an HVAC technician or Boiler Tender.
Universal refrigerant card issued by the EPA.
Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Obtain an interim security clearance and maintain a secret clearance.
Must pass a background check, drug screening, fingerprints, and a fit-for-duty physical exam; candidates must be medically cleared for long-term residency in a remote location with limited access to healthcare.

Responsibilities

Tends one or more boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water for use in an establishment.
Fires boilers; observes and interprets readings on gauges, meters, and charts which register various aspects of boiler operation.
Performs repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of commercial, industrial, and residential heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems and refrigeration units.
Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape using cutting and bending equipment and tools.
Cuts and threads pipe using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment.
Bends and forms sheet metal for ductwork, grease pans, etc.
Troubleshoots and locates malfunctions, diagnoses problems, and determines appropriate repairs for HVAC and refrigeration systems.
Adjusts, repairs, or replaces thermostats, pressure stats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring.
Repairs or replaces compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys.
Services and repairs evaporators, condensers, and receivers.
Repacks valves, lubricates moving parts, replaces filters and cleans coils as needed.
Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions.
Repairs components within a system to include transformers, motors, electrodes, solenoids, rheostats, PLC controls, and aqua stats.
Performs duties on PL-1 resources under the direction of the MDA Liaison.
Responds to call-outs after normal working hours as needed.
Assists other trades and crafts personnel in their daily operations, as directed.
Ensures proper housekeeping of jobsite, mechanical rooms, and shops.
Performs related work as assigned.
