About The Position

Tom's Mechanical is seeking highly motivated HVAC Apprentice candidates who are eager to learn the HVAC skilled trade through on-the-job training and instruction. This role is designed for recent graduates to become effective HVAC technicians under the guidance of experienced professionals. The apprentice will gain exposure to residential and commercial installation and service, with opportunities for specialization after the probationary period. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age, due to insurance coverage needs
One year of experience in construction, maintenance, or other trades setting
High School Diploma, GED and/or a certification from an accredited technical school, or any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Tom's Management Team
Successful applicants will need to pass a background and drug screening
Must have a current, valid Texas Driver's License (with a clear or near clear driving record)
Current TDLR, and EPA certification
Professional and courteous verbal and written communication skills
First-rate interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent attention to detail
Good driving record with continual ability to pass our driving record for insurability purposes
Solid time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to function well in a high-paced, demanding, and/or strenuous environment
From interview to last day of employment, the ability to pass a 10-panel drug screen
Continual ability to pass a background clearance verification
Neat and clean appearance during working hours
Ability to successfully read, write, type and calculate, as needed
Strong work ethic and behavior
Maintaining a safe working environment

Responsibilities

Services, maintains, and repairs residential and commercial HVAC systems under experienced HVAC Technician supervision
Learns to determine general condition of HVAC systems, troubleshoots HVAC malfunctions, and determines extent of necessary repairs, under the guidance of an experienced HVAC Technician
Maintains a neat work area and inspects that area for cleanliness after completion of each job
Conveys a safety-conscious attitude, both on the job and while driving
Wears floor savers while in the client’s home
Helps maintains company vehicle, ensures that it is always clean on both the inside and the outside
Performs other related duties, as required
