About The Position

St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, is a completely residential, co-educational secondary school affiliated with the Episcopal Church and welcoming to people of all faiths. The Penn Boarding School Teaching Residency (BSTR) program is a groundbreaking collaboration between the Graduate School of Education of the University of Pennsylvania and a consortium of the nation's leading boarding schools. With an innovative and comprehensive curriculum designed specifically for the boarding schools' unique setting, the program provides aspiring teachers a two-year opportunity to receive a Master's in Science of Education in concert with the exceptional fellowship program offered by St. Paul's School.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a Humanities discipline is required.
  • As part of residential boarding school, the candidate must be committed to working and living with adolescents and supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • The ideal candidate is highly organized and collaborative, with strong time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • While prior teaching experience is not required, relevant experience working with young people is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching one or two classes each term
  • Coaching an interscholastic team or co-curricular activity for two terms
  • Living on campus and serving as a residential adviser
  • Meeting weekly with the other Director of the Teaching Fellow Program and the other Teaching Fellows
  • Working collaboratively with an assigned faculty mentor, including weekly meetings and class observations
  • Summer work at Penn each year
  • Online work with the cohort of Fellows from the other schools
  • One weekend a term at one of the consortium schools with faculty from the schools and from Penn
  • Coursework with a mentor at St. Paul's School
  • Regular reading and writing assignments from the BSTR at the Penn Graduate School of Education
