About The Position
Gilbert Paterson Middle School is seeking an enthusiastic Grade 7 Humanities teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This role involves teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies. The successful candidate will be a team player who is energetic, creative, flexible, and committed to building a positive and inclusive school culture. They will collaborate with staff to develop and implement new social studies curriculum and foster genuine relationships for learning in an inclusive classroom. A commitment to prioritizing an anti-racist and anti-oppressive learning environment is essential.
Requirements
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- Sound understanding of teaching context and contributing variables.
- Deep understanding of subject disciplines taught and pedagogical approaches based on best practice.
- Understanding of planning, assessment and instructional practices.
- Understanding of classroom management strategies that contribute to a positive learning environment.
- Ability to use technology in meaningful ways for teaching and learning.
- Qualities of a reflective practitioner who engages in professional learning aligned with the TQS.
- Commitment to the school community with respect to professional relationships.
- Belief in collaborative practice and teamwork.
- Active contribution to school and student activity, and overall ability to develop effective relationships within the school and community.
- A police information check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, must be provided.
- A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services must be provided.
- Proof of photo identification must be provided.
- Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name must be provided.
