About The Position

This is a full-time position (40 hrs/wk) in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Rochester, focused on conducting surveillance studies and clinical trials. The role involves recruitment and administrative responsibilities for gastroenteritis and respiratory infection surveillance studies under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and Manager of Clinical Research. Key duties include screening and recruiting potential study candidates, conducting interviews, collecting data and specimens, performing chart reviews, verifying vaccinations, and entering data. The ideal candidate will be a team player, capable of independent project completion, comfortable with various databases, and able to maintain professional and positive communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required or Associate's degree and completion of 6 months in the Human Subject Research Coordinator Trainee program required Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Candidate must become Human Subjects certified under the HSPP program within the first week of employment.
  • Must work well as part of a team.
  • Must be able to complete project tasks independently as requested.
  • Must be comfortable with a variety of data bases.
  • Must at all times demonstrate the ability to interact in a professional and positive manner in communications.

  • Word processing and data analysis software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Screening, recruitment, and monitoring of study subjects.
  • Screen eligible patients to ensure they meet enrollment criteria.
  • Explain study to parents and obtain informed consent.
  • Conduct study visits to ensure patient compliance with project protocol.
  • Assist in developing recruitment strategies and monitoring target enrollment numbers.
  • Identification of subject pool and symptom preview.
  • Conduct interviews with families as required by protocol.
  • Collection, labeling, and coordination of study specimens for laboratory delivery, ensuring sequential labeling and interface with the lab labeling system.
  • Perform chart review and information abstraction/recording.
  • Conduct phone communications with families, pediatricians, and staff, and handle fax/mail as necessary for enrolled subjects at the site.
  • Enter data into a web-based database and respond to sponsor data queries.
  • Complete source documents, including CRFs, vaccine verifications, and follow-up phone calls for the AGE cohort.
  • Attend team meetings and conference calls as needed.
  • Interact with the Project Coordinator and Research Lab Director to ensure regulatory and other documents are complete and on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
