The Research Subject supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) Aerospace Medical Research Division’s Cabin Safety Team. The research subject will take part in a research study about the efficiency and safety of methods for evacuating a seated or wheelchair-bound disabled passenger from a simulated aircraft cabin to perform tasks as specified by research protocols. This evacuation study requires the participants to be representative of the flying public, who are reasonably healthy and able to perform work classified by the Bureau of Labor as being “Very Heavy Work”, specific medical conditions relevant to the research protocol and be 18 – 60 years of age.
