About The Position

This position involves independently conducting inspections of enrolled medical facilities to promote quality health care practices. The specialist will verify appropriate vaccine handling and storage, compile and evaluate information to determine compliance with VVSA program state and federal regulations, and communicate findings. Responsibilities also include reviewing and recommending approval, denial, or revisions to health care provider's plans, recommending corrective action for non-compliant providers, and serving as a vaccine preventable disease information resource to health care providers.

Requirements

• Knowledge of administrative practices and principles that support assigned program and service delivery
• Knowledge and experience with quality assurance monitoring, interpreting and applying regulatory law, policies, and procedures, and implementing corrective action plans and problem resolution
• Experience conducting inspections to evaluate and ensure compliance with regulations
• Experience collecting and analyzing data, preparing accurate technical documentation, and writing/providing complex reports
• Experience handling highly sensitive information and situations effectively
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to present information and training to a variety of audiences
• Strong organizational skills and proficiency with computer systems, database management and software applications
• Ability to travel long distances on a continuous basis

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of public health; communicable disease guidelines and regulations; vaccine preventable disease guidelines; vaccine handling and storage guidelines; and quality assurance techniques
• Valid Virginia driver's license and significant statewide travel (including overnight) required
• Knowledge of the Vaccines for Children Program
• Experience with vaccine management; working with medical professionals; and PEAR, SAMS, VTrckS, CoCASA and VIIS

Responsibilities
