About The Position

This position provides planned and unplanned services through the establishment of a professional working relationship with the consumer, geared towards strengthening the consumer's ability to independently cope with life situations. The role involves completing administrative duties, determining services needed through various assessments, and maintaining knowledge of community resources. The professional will refer consumers to other agencies, provide direct services in compliance with policies, participate in conferences and meetings, and ensure plans are least restrictive while ensuring community safety. Specific to Youth Justice, the role involves making dispositional recommendations to the Juvenile Court, monitoring compliance with court orders, gathering information for assessments, developing individualized case plans, assessing youth safety, making referrals for community services and out-of-home placements, maintaining case records, following guidelines for the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Juveniles, providing after-hours intake duties, facilitating team meetings and groups, and monitoring GPS and alcohol monitoring of clients.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow directions, read and write reports.
  • Knowledge of interviewing, communication, and counseling.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws, rules, standards, and regulations pertaining to practice area.

  • Competent computer skills and computer experience.
  • Must successfully pass caregiver and criminal background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and unlimited access to a personal vehicle.
  • A minimum of $250,000/$500,000 auto liability insurance coverage verified upon hire and at renewal.
  • Willingness to utilize personal vehicle as necessary to perform job duties and responsibilities including transport of agency consumers, if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide planned and unplanned services to consumers to strengthen their ability to cope with life situations.
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner.
  • Determine services needed through interviews, assessments, home visits, and investigations, explaining services and consumer rights/responsibilities.
  • Establish and maintain working knowledge of community, county, state, and independent resources and utilize them appropriately.
  • Refer consumers to other agencies or services and cooperate with them.
  • Provide direct delivery of services and programs in compliance with all unit, agency, and county policies.
  • Participate in individual conferences and team meetings.
  • Ensure plans and services are least restrictive while ensuring community member safety.
  • Make dispositional recommendations to the Juvenile Court based on youth's criminogenic needs/referral offense.
  • Monitor compliance with court orders, report back to the court, and testify as needed.
  • Gather information from youth, parents, and collaterals to complete the Youth Assessment Screening Instrument full assessment.
  • Partner with youth to develop an individualized case plan based on strengths, needs, and goals.
  • Assess safety of the youth in their home, community, and other environments.
  • Make necessary referrals for community services and out-of-home placement settings.
  • Maintain a timely and thorough case record as documented in eWiSACWIS and Case Works.
  • Follow guidelines in the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Juveniles utilizing the UNITY system.
  • Provide after-hours youth justice intake duties including de-escalation, utilizing informal family supports, 72-Hour Caseworker Holds, and Temporary Physical Custody Requests.
  • Facilitate team meetings, educational groups, and Court ordered services.
  • Facilitate and monitor the GPS program and alcohol monitoring of clients.
