About The Position

This posting is for an applicant pool for affiliate faculty in Human Services and Counseling. Screening of applicants will occur as positions become available. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions that vary from semester to semester based on program needs. Not all applicants will be contacted or selected to teach. The Department of Human Services and Counseling, soon to be renamed Mental Health and Addiction Counseling, prepares compassionate, skilled professionals for mental health and substance use challenges, with a focus on advocacy, equity, and evidence-based practice. The department emphasizes real-world training and a collaborative, student-centered environment, aiming to transform lives and build stronger communities. The department offers majors in Fire and Emergency Response Administration and Human Services, a concentration in Addiction Studies, and focus areas in trauma and high-risk youth.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Human Services, Counseling, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Education, Gerontology, Rehabilitation, Women’s Studies, Communication, Nonprofit Studies, Behavior Science or related field; or tested experience (FERA)

Responsibilities

  • Teaching assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content to students.
  • Preparing course materials and lesson plans.
  • Grading student work.
  • Providing students with robust feedback in a timely manner.
  • Addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
  • Providing online or in person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
  • Providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if required, with department course coordination policies.
  • Complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
  • Adapting and learning new modes of instruction.
  • Being sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
