About The Position

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. The Mathematics and Statistics affiliate instructor will conduct 1-9 hours of General Studies mathematics courses and/or small group learning sessions that accompany General Studies mathematics courses. They will work and interact with diverse groups of students and/or coordinate with faculty teaching lecture sections aligned with learning sessions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, or closely related field

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, or closely related field
  • Proficiency in teaching with technology, e.g., calculators and computer software

Responsibilities

  • Conduct 1 - 9 hours of in-person or hybrid General Studies mathematics courses and/or in-person small group learning sessions that accompany General Studies mathematics courses.
  • Work and interact with diverse groups of students and/or coordinate with faculty teaching lecture sections aligned with learning sessions.
  • Teaching assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content to students.
  • Preparing course materials and lesson plans.
  • Grading student work.
  • Providing students with robust feedback in a timely manner.
  • Addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
  • Providing online or in person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
  • Providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if required, with department course coordination policies.
  • Complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
  • Adapt and learn new modes of instruction.
  • Be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
