This position is responsible for supporting the advancement of programs, services and supports for individuals with disabilities citywide within the Office of Aging and Disability Services. The position advocates, develops and promotes accessibility, disability inclusion, and equitable access to City programs, services, and community resources. This position assists with ADA-related initiatives, provides information and service navigation for individuals with disabilities and older adults, coordinates outreach and educational activities, and works collaboratively with City departments and community partners to improve access to services and supports. The Accessibility Coordinator serves as a resource for residents, caregivers, City staff, and community organizations by helping connect individuals to available services, promoting inclusive practices, supporting accessibility efforts, and assisting with the development of programs and resources that help individuals remain independent and engaged in the community. The position requires a substantive knowledge of aging and disability services, various benefits, community resources, policies, practices and procedures to select and apply the most appropriate process or guidance to complete the work.
