Nox Metals is the supply chain behind it. Nox Metals is a technology company in Detroit supplying aluminum plate, bar, and rounds to aerospace and defense manufacturers. We use software and automation to supply metal to American factories faster than the industry thought possible. We need a Human Resources leader to own the people function end to end. Nox is built by the people we hire, and a great HR function is what lets us hire, develop, and keep them. Requirements

  • 5+ years owning HR in a manufacturing, industrial, technology, or comparable fast-moving environment
  • Experienced running HR end to end as a solo operator or near-solo operator
  • Strong recruiting partner, you have closed great hires across blue collar, technical, and leadership roles
  • Fluent in employment law, payroll, benefits, and compliance for a multi-shift industrial workforce
  • Skilled at coaching managers, especially first-time managers running shift teams
  • Cracked with software and data, you run HR by the numbers and never lose a record
  • Calm under pressure when handling sensitive employee situations, fair, consistent, and discreet
  • High attention to quality, every offer letter, every onboarding, every record, every conversation
  • Always thinking about how to make processes better, you do not accept "this is how we have always done it"
  • Absolutely customer obsessed, your customers are our employees and the hiring managers building this company
  • A team player with a good attitude, you make the company better for everyone around you
  • Someone who takes ownership, if it touches a person at Nox, it is your responsibility

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in metals, manufacturing, aerospace, or defense
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certifications
  • Background hiring CDL drivers, factory operators, and skilled trades
  • Experience standing up an HR function from scratch at an early-stage company
  • Comfortable using AI tools to work faster and smarter

Responsibilities

  • Own the entire HR function as a solo IC and build the team as we grow
  • Partner with hiring managers across software, operations, and the floor to run hiring end to end
  • Own sourcing, screening, scheduling, offers, and closing for every role we run
  • Build and maintain our applicant tracking workflow and recruiting pipeline
  • Own onboarding, every new hire shows up on day one with everything they need to succeed
  • Own offboarding, exits handled with respect and discipline
  • Own payroll, benefits, 401k, leave, and every HR system that touches an employee
  • Own employee relations, coaching managers, mediating issues, handling investigations when they come up
  • Own performance management, reviews, comp planning, promotions, and PIPs when needed
  • Own compliance, employment law, I-9s, EEOC, ADA, FMLA, state and federal labor requirements, and all applicable Michigan rules
  • Build and maintain the employee handbook, HR SOPs, and people policies
  • Run engagement, culture, and retention programs that actually move the needle
  • Own HRIS, ATS, and all people systems, build them clean and keep them clean
  • Build dashboards and reports on headcount, hiring funnel, retention, comp, and engagement
  • Walk the floor regularly, you are not an HR leader who lives in a Slack channel
  • Always ask questions, never guess when something is unclear
  • Look at every process and figure out how to make it better
  • Work safely every shift and hold your teammates to the same standard
