About The Position

This position is within the Teacher Recruitment & Reclassification Unit. The Human Resources Technician VI is responsible for screening applications to ensure they meet minimum qualifications for the class of work being sought. The role involves accepting or rejecting applications, communicating rejections with explanations, advising line departments on filling positions, recommending the most suitable methods for filling vacancies based on various factors, and suggesting incentives like hiring above the minimum or using lower-level classes for vacancies.

Requirements

  • Progressively responsible general office clerical experience.
  • Experience in an office where the work required the knowledge and application of pertinent human resources rules, regulations, procedures and program requirements.
  • Possess supervisory aptitude (demonstrated through successful completion of assignments involving supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision, training courses in supervision with applied skills, or favorable appraisals indicating supervisory potential).
  • Four (4) years of specialized experience.
  • One (1) year of general experience.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of a clerical curriculum at an accredited business or technical school may be substituted for up to one (1) year of General Experience.
  • Successful completion of an academic year in an accredited college or university above the high school level may be substituted for one (1) year of General Experience.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree may be substituted for one (1) year of General Experience and two (2) years of Specialized Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Screens applications for assigned classes to determine whether education and work experience meet minimum qualifications for class of work being sought.
  • Accepts/rejects applications.
  • Writes letters/reports to explain/justify rejections.
  • Advises line departments/program staff on available methods of filling positions.
  • Recommends most suitable method based on time factors, availability of lists, past history, etc.
  • Recommends the use of incentives such as hiring above the minimum, shortage differentials and the use of lower-level classes to fill vacancies.
